Immersive Visual Effect

MIB

Brief
For the project, we can do whatever we want as long as it is under immersive visual effect, so we can do projection mapping or do AR or VR.

Pre-Production
As for the pre-production, we only do ideation on what we want to make, so we propose some idea to our lecturer and then get feedback whether it is good to go or not, so here is my first draft for the idea

And my idea is not really that good, because there is lack of it, but after doing the consultation, I got new idea for the project and here is the idea

Production
From here, we start doing our production. And I start with making the 3D model for the window using blender and then from there I make the animation in after effect, and here is the first draft.

And from here Mr. Fauzi told me that, instead of using scenery how about using something that can be seen from close and beautiful at the same time, and than he showed an animation of flower, from there I got the idea to use flower and forest as my content, and not using Malaysia and China anymore, I use Indonesia because that is the one that close to me and I know it better. So here is how it looks like

And I am not going to do pattern on the window anymore, but now I make it into the wall. This idea come when Mr. Fauzi taught us about Arena6, that we can do many mapping and then combine it into one projection. So I make it using After effect, the effect name is kaleidoscope.

The process to make it, I put it in my last proposal slide. Basically, the effect is already built inside the software, I just need to tweak it into my likings. So here is my compilation slide from start to the end.

Post-Production
For the last touch, I use 3D blender and after effect to do the simulation for the projection mapping, this because when we try using projection from campus, the resolution do not support our Arena6, so when we do testing for map our content, it cannot map properly. and here is how it looks like, if I do the projection mapping.

And as for the last one is the interaction, because without it, I cannot called it immersive. Here I use SparkAR to make the AR and info board pop up when people scan the QR code and than scan the flower.

Reflections
I really love learning within this subject, I think Mr. Fauzi is a suitable lecturer for this subject, because although from the campus do not provide a good facility for us to explore and learn. Mr Fauzi bring us into a real project and real client where we can learn it on site, and that is what help me to become like this right now who have knowledge about projection mapping.

One of the event that Mr. Fauzi ever bring to us is one is for a cafe, where he will do projection mapping onto a wall, and this is our first time to learn projection mapping, and I must say, it is quite hard at the first time

And the other events is for a big event from SneakerLAH, and we got invited as Mr. Fauzi crew member, and I must say I am really thank you so much to Mr. Fauzi to invite us into this event. One of the reason, I can't lie that because of the artist which is Lee Hi and second we got hands on the projection mapping, we control the graphics to synchronize with the music which is really cool and awesome and something precious to my experience
