Submission

So on week 7, we got a brief that we need to make a 3-act story where later on we need to make it into a visual, like a comic book with the comic cover too. So this is my 3 act story.

After our storyline got accepted, now it is our time to make the comic cover first. And this is my first attempt at making the cover. First I do the sketch first, which I do not really like the eye actually.

When I show my work, I got comments that the title may be confusing to the reader, is it emotion or s-emotion. The question mark also looks like part of the title. And the last thing is the character, people may know her as a student, but she is a policewoman. So I need to put a police badge or maybe walkie talkie on her clothes to make it obvious that she is a policewoman. So here is my second attempt and also my final outcome.

After we did the comic cover, we need to sketch out our storyboard. And then we place it into a comic panel. So this is my sketch.

From that sketch, I jump into Illustrator to digitalize it. And this is my final outcome of the comic panel.

After we have done with the panels we need to make one of the panels animated, just a small animatic will do. So the panel that I choose is the first panel where my main character figured out something shocking, and my idea is to make it something like this anime.

Fig 8 Animatic panel reference

Either this or maybe just a simple one, where the character is shocked, from her big pupil to small pupil, and also her skin turns pale just like how the character above looks like. So this is my animatic manga panel. Firstly I separate the panel that I want to be animated, to make my workflow easier.

Here I do the sky like a panning camera, from nothing and then all the clouds and also the house will move to the center slowly.

Then at the end, I combine all the animations into one page. And here is the result of the animatic comic panel.

Reflections

Experience
The hardest part when doing this project is that because my story is about a bout real humans, I want to make a human character and that is my weakness. However, I try my best. I really like this project where we can make our own story and comic. I always love to read comics and manga and never get a chance to try to make it.

Observation
I observe I am still not really good at making a human character. I do not know whether I need to keep enhancing it or not because actually, my strength is making a cute character not human like this.

Findings
When I made this project. I find a lot of tutorials on how to make a manga bubble chat. What kind of font do they usually use. And also actually when making it animatic I find a lot of trouble that I never experience before, and thankfully I find the solution.
