Instructions
In here I get assigned to do a research on any interactive choice based game and answering this question
What story elements remain the same across ontological variants? What are the key points of departure? How does the game motivate players to try different paths? How does it reward player for exploring alternate versions?
Progress
So basically, I choose something that similar to my game them which is about school environment
So after player click play now they will get to choose on how they going to looks like, whether they want to play as a girl or a man
and you can choose how you going to look like from the color skin, hair, until outfits. At then after you pick all on your looks, the game will ask whether you like it or want to try another look, so player who want to change can have a another chance to change.
When I make my choice to girl, I thought that all the gender will be swaped like, at the first I bumped into a girl if I choose man, she will change into a boy if I pick girl as my character. However that is not happen in here. Every character remain the same with the same storyline. So the gender in here do not change or alter the storyline.
So here is the first choice where we as the player need to pick. The first one is normal, but the second one is something that is interesting to pick isnt it. If we pick number one, the girl will only answer it normally. But If we pick the second option, we can get an affection with the girl, and she will get blushed, no matter whether you pick boy or girl as your character.
Throught out the story actually sometimes, we can make an affection with certain character like for example another one is when we come into the classroom and meet a guy, where he want to sit in our place. And here is the choice that we need to make
As we can see here, either we can try to fight with him or try to flirt. At my first try I would like to become like a normal guy that just arrive at his first school. But the second I try, I want to become more flirty and I pick the third one, turns out the guys not looks angry or what but become flirty also. How funny is that.
I feel like this kind of choice is what drive player to choose a different path / not a normal choice which make the storyline even more unique and fun to play through. Because by choosing something like this will reward the player to get affection from other character.
Findings
So what do I found after playing this game. I get insight that in every storyline, we need to put something that trigger player to pick a different path, don't just make a normal storyline where player can see or experience in real life, make player dare to pick different path so they can explore and deep more into the story, because the game is made for people who maybe cannot pick that kind of choices in real life.
Another one is that, the introduction is a crucial thing, where we as a game developer need to pay attention because in there many of player can judge whether our game is nice and worth it to play or not. We cannot make them confuse on the storyline, we need to established it really clean and proper.
