Progress

So we got briefed to do a channel bumper, it is like a short animation about the logo of a brand that we want to show. And when I got this brief, I straightly want to do Meta as my brand of choice, because I really love VR. So I do not have any like second or third choice of brand.

At the first time I saw meta logo, I know exactly how am I going to do the animation. So I research on how meta ads looks like, because I want to inline with their art style and also their color guideline that is provided by themselves in their website.

So here are my research


After I do the research, I found that they sometimes use glow for lines, as for the background they also use gradient not always solid color. From here I try to make my moodboard and also plan out how my animation will be looks like, and here is my moodboard.


To put it simple, I want to use ball go around the display to give the message, now from here I draw my storyboard which is just a few scene.


From here I make my storyboard into after effect and animate it, and for my first try, here is how it looks like.


From here, I got comment that maybe can lessen the glow, because meta doesn't use glow that much. And as for the glass breaking, it sound like someone breaking into something, which is not a good sound, try to use a sound that have more positive vibe.

So after that I try to adjust the color and also try to figure out what kind of sound should use for the first scene, where I still want to maintain that the ball is go into something or different verse or world, but not like a breaking into something.

And I got something in my mind that I know that meta have their own Oculus Quest sound effect, and from there I got inspiration to make like a portal effect that the ball fall into. And here how the final outcome looks like.
