Progression

Week 1

In week one I do not know who my classmates are because my minor class is on thursday and on the first week there is holiday. And because of that I can’t make a group, and I quite struggle with that. So I tried to whatsapp one of my friends that I know. However, a miracle happened, suddenly out of nowhere, I got a new message from Telegram from someone that I do not recall ever chit chatting with before. Although at first, they do not know whether I can join their group because my minor group is supposed to be on Thursday and I also have a class on Monday from 2pm till 6pm. After some thought, they asked me whether I can manage the time to meet on monday, because most of the group mates are in monday class. I don't have any problem because my monday class will not last until 6pm. So I really thank you for my group mates for inviting me into this group.

Week 2

In the second week, we got a task to do contextual research. We need to do research about smart laundry lockers that already exist. Because everyone already researched laundry lockers in Malaysia, I decided to go overseas like the US. I compare it between them and any other locker in Malaysia based on what my group mates have already researched. And turns out, it is not really a good comparison, because more plus in Malaysia rather than out there. In this week, we also had our first meeting with i3Mech, Mr. Paul, they shared everything, starting from how their company is, what their expectations are and our task to do. 

Week 3

In the third week, we do consultation with Mr. Mike regarding our contextual study. And do not have much from me, because others already got so much insights, and most competitors is in Malaysia not outside until like the US or UK.

Week 4

In week 4, we did a consultation and shared our 3 personas that we already built to our lecturer. We speak and explain our personas just like we are the personas so Mr. Mike can know it better and for me, I impersonate a busy working adult who got a job as a chef. After we did the consultation, Mr. Mike told us to build the survey questionnaire. At first we struggle because we do not know what we should ask of our 3 personas. We tried our best first, and then we showed the first draft to Mr. Mike and then got feedback which helped us to build our questionnaire better.

Week 5

After we did our best for the survey, we consulted with our lecturer to check whether it is good to go or not. And after that, we did a small change and then good to go. When I want to share the forms, I do not directly just share it on my instagram, because when doing that, I cannot track how many people reach and finish with my survey. First, I share with my friends whatsapp group which is under student persona, and then private message one by one to my friends that are already working which is under working adults persona. As for the parents' persona, I try to reach people that I know from my church through Whatsapp. And because our respondents are far from target, I try to post it in facebook groups and give the criteria so the respondents will not be random.

Week 6

After we are done with our survey, this week we need to analyse our data and make a summary of it. We got some insights that can help us build this service better. As for our next task we need to think about 5 ideas, and then categorise them, Key themes, insight and problem statements. So, we decided to share our thoughts in the next few days through group call meetings and then get together for a meeting to sort out our ideas and figure out our main issues. After that, we showed our work to our teacher for feedback. The teacher asked us to connect our top 5 ideas with the idea categories to see if we had similar thoughts. And then, we also got told that we can start on making our “How might we” questions and possible solutions.

Week 7

This week, after Mr. Mike gave the green light on our defined problem, we shifted our attention to figuring out "How Might We" questions and their solutions. We gathered online to chat about our findings and make sure the solutions we proposed were practical. Throughout our discussion, we received valuable suggestions on how to enhance our solutions and ideas for additional improvements.

Week 8

During our meeting with Mr. Mike this week, we looked at our suggested Art Direction based on the mood boards we each created on Miro. We came up with two ideas for the brand name and logo: i3cube and i3wash. i3cube was the client's original suggestion, and i3wash is a new name we thought of, fitting well with the laundry business. While going through the art direction, we were reminded to always connect back to the three key ideas: convenience, time-saving, and cleanliness. After discussing which brand name to go with, we decided on i3wash. Our branding direction will emphasize a clean, modern, and minimalist look. 

After we done with the consultation, I got the task to do the 3D modelling for our mascot which want to go with water bubble kind of character, and here how it looks like

Week 9

For this week, we do consultation with Mr. Mike regarding our slides that we prepare for presenting to i3Mech later on. Here, I contribute to making the 3D mascot which is called Trimi. Mr. Mike does not have any comment regarding the mascot design. As for the key visuals, Mr. Mike said that the character design already looks playful, so the key visuals also need to have that playful look also. So after we did the consultation Anna gave points and ideas for me to do the modelling for Trimi to do something for the sake of key visuals. And here how I model Trimi.

Week 10

After we finished with our presentation to the client last week, we got a break for a week as we waited for client’s feedback on our proposed design and art style. And once we got the feedback coming in. There is the feedback for the mascot, which they want the mascot to be part of the other content.

Week 11

For this week, I got assigned to do the 3D icons that needed from the UI/UX side. Which is for the laundry process and also some gif animation for things like payment, order, etc. And after that, I also try to make Trimi in different kinds of situations based on the Instagram post content that will be made by Anna and Kwai Pin. After that, what I needed to do is to start making the 3D icons for the services and also the garments.

Week 12

This week, I am just continuing my task which is to make the 3D icons for garments and the services. One thing that quite hard is to make the 3D icons for the garments, because I really try hard to make it not really realistic but at the same time try to make it so when people see it, they will know what is that garment is. But at the end, I am quite satisfy with the results.

Week 13

For early this week, same as like previous week, we do consultation with Mr. Mike. For my side are only the 3D icons that I already made for the UI/UX and graphics team. After that, this week will be my time to do the locker design, and I got help from Kwai Pin to do the design for the skin, and I really appreciate it, cause it make my work faster, I tweak a little bit and then put it into the 3D model that I already made from weeks ago. After that is done, then I straightly make it into designing the pop up booth. And then I am ready to do the consultation next week.

Week 14

This week's consultation, my locker design was commented on. Mike said that the locker qr code needs to be added also for the front part, not just for the side part. And as already near the final week, I only left with the three tasks to do for my part which is to make the mascot, the doll, and the teaser video. However, I can only do the physical mascot for that week, because I also need to do other assignments that are almost near the deadline.

At first, I quite struggle on making the material for this physical mascot. But then after I do some searching on YouTube, I got the tutorial to make a balloon, but my journey not stop there, because the looks not quite accurate like in real life. So I go into google once again to look for reference, and got small detail that I need to add which is the wire that support the balloon. After I add it, now it feels like a real thingy. 

And for the video introduction for the service, Mr. Mike said that we need to add the real footage where there is human in it or real object to connect it, so not all using graphics. And as for that, I got the task to use the locker mockup and then make two videos that Kwai Pin needed which is the QR scan simulation and Drop off & PickUp simulation where the locker opens - laundry bag go in - locker closed.

Week 15

As for week 15, We show Mr. Mike our progress, and as for the mascot. Mr. Mike said that I need to give the comparison between the physical mascot and real human, so people or clients that see the picture know how big this physical mascot is. This week I am also done with my other task which is to make Trimi doll merchandise. And also this week, I need to get done with my last task which is to make the teaser video. I do not have any struggle with making the teaser video, the hard thing is only finding a proper music for the video. But at the end, I am quite satisfy with the final results

Reflections

I really love working with my teamate, they all are hardworking person, sometimes I feel like I am the one that not give the best. But when they love and give comments on my progress, I feel relieved. I learn so much thing from this project, start from know more how to handle real client project, to working as a team. I also love to thank you to Mr. Mike because he already give comments and guide us through many many times of process which led us to here.

Although at first, I never thought that my skill can be useful when making apps, but at the end my teammates use my potential and play along with it, which I really thankful so I can contribute and make my portfolio even better because of this project.
