In this task, we got assigned to make a 200mm x 200mm poster using 8 typography systems (axial, radial, dilatational, random, grid, modular, transitional, bilateral) using Adobe InDesign. We can use a graphical design such as dots, lines, shapes, etc, and for the color, we only can use one color other than black.

Reflections

Experience

It was really hard and fun at the same time actually. There are no restrictions when we make our own artwork. And also I really enjoy it when we have a chance to make our own logo. Because I never make my own logo I am really satisfied with it. And it is quite fun because we always need to put our artwork into something like a mockup / apply it to a real object. I really enjoy doing it, although sometimes I struggle to think about what kind of applications. I always not liked typography even from my previous diploma. However, from here I experience a lot which improve me a lot too. So I am really thankful to Mr. Vinod to guide me and teach me more about typography.

Observation

By the end of this semester. I observed that I improve quite a lot compared to my previous diploma. I also observed from my artwork that I need a lot of practice again even after this advanced typography was done. Because even though, it is called advanced typography, I cannot call myself advanced in typography at all.

Findings

My finding from this semester is that I still have a lot of flaws and mistakes when doing typography which is actually not something that I can be proud of. However, I found out that nobody success on their first try. When designing something, the first idea always sucks because that is what other people also may think. And because there are a lot of students here compare to my previous diploma. Then more heads can think of an idea, and I need to be very distinctive to make my artwork different and unique to others.
